Greedfall 2: The Dying World will arrive in early access on PC via Steam this coming September 24, 2024, with a PS5 and console release date to arrive sometime after that.
Developer Spiders and publisher Nacon revealed a release date trailer on Thursday, showcasing a few cinematic scenes while also featuring what quotes from various previews of the game.
The original Greedfall arrived on PS4 back in 2019, and at the time its heart and ambition outshined its flaws for us here at PSU. Now, nearly five years later the sequel, as you might expect, looks even more ambitious.
The biggest changes coming in the sequel seem to be those made to the gameplay, particularly the combat, which promises a much more engaged and strategic style.
Spiders cites Dragon Age: Origins as its inspiration here, and in the current gaming landscape of fast-paced action games being rampant, something more slowed down and thoughtful has the chance to stand out in the best way.
Unfortunately PS5 owners will have to wait a little while longer to see if that ends up being the case, but of course if you’re very keen on playing Greedfall 2 there is the early access version only months away at time of writing.
On the topic of its console release, Spiders says it’ll have more to say on the game in August and September as we get closer to its early access release. Hopefully somewhere in there we get at least a release window for console players.
