Sony has announced a new Gran Turismo Sport release date of October 18, 2017 following a lengthy delay for the highly anticipated racing simulation title.
Developed by Polyphony Digital, the PlayStation 4-exclusive title was originally due to ship in November 2016, but was pushed into 2017 in order to allow for further polishing. This is despite the fact the planned beta last year was cancelled in order for the full game to meet its 2016 launch window, although fortunately Sony would roll out an open beta a few months back.
Pleasingly, the game will be arriving in stores slightly earlier than what we were initially lead to believe. Check out the Gran Turismo Sport release date trailer below.
Despite not carrying a traditional number in the title, GT Sport offers a full-fledged career mode and all the bells and whistles associated with the venerable racing franchise, plus a new PSVR-specific mode. Creator Kazunori Yamauchi has boasted that the game’s car models are so detailed that they’ll set a new benchmark that will be continued to be used in the next console generation.
Gran Turismo has sold over 76 million copies worldwide since its inception on the original PlayStation back in December 1997.
