Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has labelled Gran Turismo 7 a success, despite format holder Sony having not yet released any sales figures for the PS5 & PS4 racer.
Speaking during a roundtable interview attend by GTPlanet, Yamauchi-san was asked about the lack of sales data for the racing simulation title. In response, he said that user engagement has been high, and has been further boosted by the release of the Spec II update.
[Gran Turismo 7] has been a success, and we have been able to maintain a really high number of active users throughout the release. That’s something very unique to Gran Turismo that other titles have not been able to see. When we released the Spec II update, the number of active users jumped up to double of what it was before that. I’ve heard in the video game industry that is quite rare.
Gran Turismo 7 was released for PS5 & PS4 in March 2022, and you can read our review here.
