Gran Turismo 7 Is The Highest-Grossing Series Entry In The US

Circana’s Mat Piscatella has revealed in a post on BlueSky that Gran Turimso 7 is now the highest-grossing entry in the long-running racing simulation franchise in the US.

“Gran Turimso now ranks 1st in dollars and 5th in units among all Gran Turismo franchise releases,” wrote Piscatella. To put that into context, Gran Turismo 5 sold 3.44 million in the US while Gran Turismo 4 moved 3.47, so GT7 would be nestled in-between those two titles for units sold in order to rank fifth.

Gran Turismo 7 was released in March 2022 for the PS5 & PS4, and has been continually updated by developer Polyphony Digital over the past near-three years with fresh content such as new vehicles. Back in November last year, a new patch was released that implemented PS5 Pro support alongside many first-party Sony games. However, it’s worth noting that GT7 is able to run at a native 4K resolution/120 FPS without the need for a patch thanks to the PS5 Pro’s Game Boost feature.

Sony launched the Gran Turismo franchise for the PlayStation back in December 1997 in Japan, and since then the franchise has hit every major Sony platform to date. With over 90 million units sold worldwide, Gran Turismo is the best-selling franchise for the PlayStation grand, with Gran Turismo 3 ranking as the series’ best-selling game.
