Sony Santa Monica Studio‘s epic dad-’em-up sequel God of War Ragnarok has returned to the summit of the physical UK All Format Chart, with sales rising 32% week-on-week, reports GI.biz.
The game’s rise back to the top of the chats comes as a batch of fresh PS5 stock finds its way back to retailer shelves just in time for Christmas. It’s also worth remembering that God of War Ragnarok is also part of a PS5 hardware bundle, in case you’re in the market for a new console and one of the year’s best games.
Meanwhile, FIFA 23 drops down to second place and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 takes a tumble down to third place. Cup head’s physical release enters the charts at no.18, while The Callisto Protocol falls from no.6 to no.13, with sales suffering a 69% drop week-on-week.
God of War Ragnarok was released on PS4 & PS5 on November 9, 2022. The game sold 5.1 million copies in its first week on sale, smashing records for the franchise and also giving Sony its fastest-selling first-party game debut of all time.
Sony’s god-slaying sequel also picked up a wealth of accolades at The Game Awards 2022, and while it didn’t nab Game of the Year (that went to Elden Ring), it did win that particular gong in TIME Magazine.
