David Jaffe, the director behind the original God of War, has once again heaped praise over Bethesda Game Studios’ epic sci-fi outing Starfield, believing it may just have the best singe-player narrative of all time.
I adore this game; one of the best single player narratives in gaming ever. Perhaps THE Best IMO.
Jaffe was a key figure in the Twisted Metal and God of War franchises, having served as the designer on the original Twisted Metal and also a director on its sequel. He directed the original God of War and was also creative director on God of War II, but hasn’t been involved in making games since 2017’s Drawn to Death on PS4.

Starfield was released for PC and Xbox Series X/S in September 2023, and is notable for being the first original IP from Bethesda in 25 years. There’s been numerous rumours about the game heading to the PS5, and with Microsoft now bringing a number of its exclusives to other formats, there’s every chance Starfield may also arrive on Sony’s console.
