“Get Out” And “M3GAN” Production Company Opens Gaming Division, Blumhouse Games

Blumhouse, the tv and film production company behind movies like the recent M3GAN and Jordan Peele’s iconic Get Out has announced the opening of a new gaming division, called Blumhouse Games.

According to a report from GamesIndustry.Biz, this new branch of Blumhouse will focus on working with indie developers to create new horror titles for mobile, console and PC platforms.

Veteran developer Zach Wood, who’s worked across the industry as a producer on multiple titles like Unfinished Swan, Sound Shapes, and Twisted Metal has been named the president of Blumhouse Games.

Joining him is Don Sechlar, who is coming to Blumhouse Games after being the vice president of global head of business operations, planning and strategy for PlayStation for three months short of a decade. Sechlar will act as Blumhouse Games’ chief financial officer.

There’s been no details given on whether or not the new studio has any projects on the go, but Blumhouse has confirmed it’ll keep an indie focus, defining that as titles which cost less than $10 million to make.

“When we sat down with Zach and Don, they articulated an approach that resonated with Blumhouse’s model,” said Blumhouse president Abhijay Prakash.

“We knew it was a perfect place for us to start our push into the interactive space.”
