miHoYo has announced that Genshin Impact update 3.4 ‘The Exquisite Night Chimes’ will launch for PS4 & PS5 on January 18, 2023.
Genshin Impact’s latest update will bring the annual celebration of Lantern Rite, new competitions in Inazuma, elegant outfits, rich awards including a free four-star Liyue character and 13 Interwind Fates. In addition, players will be able to get their paws on two new playable characters — Alhaitham and Yaoyao.
Alhaitham will be playable as a 5-star sword wielder after an impressive showing in Sumeru’s main campaign, and players will be able to find out what the Scribe of the Akademiya went through during the story quest ‘Vultur Volans Chapter.’ Alhaitham is able to create ‘Chisel-Light Mirrors’ that converts his attacks into Dendro Damage and execute coordinated attacks in battle.
Meanwhile, the second character, Yaoyao, is a four-star character and is described as an ‘endearing child from Liyue.’ When in battle, Yaoyao makes use of a polearm and is able to inflict more damage using the adeptus-crafted device ‘Yuegui.’
As the new year in Teyvat approaches, Liyue once again shines in the full splendor of Lantern Rite. This year’s festivities include a music festival featuring guests from afar and a Paper Theater performance, a beloved folk art show performed by local veteran artisans with the help of the Traveler.
Many different mini-games are also available during Lantern Rite, e.g. Radiant Sparks, the latest racing game where players have the ability to become part of a rising fireworks display. By completing this season’s events and challenges, rewards including 10 plus 3 Intertwined Fates, a four-star Liyue character, and Lisa’s new outfit can all be claimed for free.
