Steelkrill Studio and Feardemic have announced that The Backrooms 1998 will launch for PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on February 20, 2025, at which point the game will leave Early Access.
The found footage survival horror game originally entered Early Access in May 2022 for PC, and follows a young teenager after they plunge into the Backrooms over 27 years ago. Here, you attempt to find your way out of the maze of rooms while keeping an eye on your stamina levels, or risk succumbing to the creature that roams the area.

To help you navigate the Backrooms, you can use a spray gun to leave a trace on your path, keeping track over the areas you have covered. Furthermore, safe rooms provide brief sanctuary where you can save your progress, or risk being trapped for eternity.
This game may be disturbing to some audiences as this game contains real disturbing footage, sounds, fear nature, jump scares, gore, extreme violence, murders, and intense horror that may not be for the faint of heart. Play this game at your own risk.
The Backrooms 1998 is out on February 20 for PS5, PS4, PC, Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
