Fictional Videogame Brands Versus Real-Life

By comparing fake in-game brands to their real-life counterparts and applying a unique scoring system, Betway eSports has the answers. In the infographic shown below, we see a breakdown of some interesting results across numerous categories, including:

  • The top 5 most valuable fictional brands in gaming
  • The most well-established in-game brands
  • The most successful brand categories
Abstergo
Multinational corporate conglomerate Abstergo has become one of gaming’s most recognisable fake brands

One of the interesting things about the report is some of the real-life brands that have been used as a comparison to many of the fictional brands that gamers will be familiar with. This includes Budweiser being compared to Pisswasser from the GTA series, Resident Evil’s Umbrella Corporation compared to consumer goods company Unilever, and Fallout’s Red Rocket gas stations being aligned with BP.

Fake Game Brands Could Be A Huge Success

In terms of the games featured, it’s no surprise to see some of them hailing from the Grand Theft Auto series, with eCola, The Smokin’ Beef Grill and the in-game Japanese restaurant, Gozushi, all featuring in the top five list of most successful in-game brands.

However, it’s the Fallout series that tops the charts for the most profitable brand, with the net worth of Red Rocket estimated to be in excess of $189bn!

Despite fictional brands from the Fallout and GTA series featuring heavily in each category, it’s quite a surprise that it’s actually a Prey brand that is the most searched for on Google as fans seek more information about Prey’s high-tech megacorporation, “TranStar Industries”.
