Tech wizards Digital Foundry have put the Elden Ring Closed Network Test through its paces, and has found that the PS5 version of FromSoftware’s upcoming fantasy epic runs slightly better than its Xbox Series X counterpart.
For starters, the Elden Ring Frame Rate mode has both games running close to or at 60 FPS, but when it comes to dips, the PS5 version doesn’t appear to suffer quite as badly as the Xbox Series X edition. One particular spot near a forest saw a big gap of around 10 FPS between the consoles.
Meanwhile, on Quality Mode, the frame rate is again slightly higher on the PS5 (although it obviously takes a tumble well below 60 FPS, as this mode prioritises resolution with no 30 FPS cap). Speaking of which, the PS5 version clocks in at 3840×2160.
