After the surprise Mortal Kombat 11 reveal at The Game Awards back in 2018, it seems that fans keep expecting NetherRealm Studios to repeat the same stunt.
Co-creator of Mortal Kombat however and chief creative officer at NetherRealm, Ed Boon took to Twitter to reign in fans expectations for this year’s event.
“Thank you for the anticipation, but we’re not ready to announce the next NRS game yet.” he tweeted out, with an image of the 2018 reveal.

Support for Mortal Kombat 11 ended not too long ago, which means that NetherRealm has been working towards whatever the studios next project is in a more focused way for a while now.
Of course we’re likely not to see anything soon, but the back and forth the studio has done between the Injustice franchise and Mortal Kombat could potentially point to a new Injustice game being due.
We have however already seen that Mortal Kombat 12 is in fact real, and being worked on to some degree. It seems that we’ll just have to wait a while longer.
