Destiny: Rise of Iron release date and time as we count down to launch

Destiny: Rise of Iron is almost upon us, with Bungie’s latest update for its polarizing shared-world shooter set to arrive this week, bringing with it a barrage of fresh content to keep Guardians entertained. 

Those of you who haven’t acquainted yourselves with Destiny’s latest expansion would do well to have a butchers’ at our Destiny: Rise of Iron exotics, maps and info guide to get upto speed with the new DLC.

With that said, here’s all the info you need to know for the Destiny: Rise of Iron countdown.

Destiny: Rise of Iron release date

Bungie will launch Destiny: Rise of Iron on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 20, 2016. Unlike previous expansion packs for the game, this latest DLC drop will not be available for last-generation formats, as Bungie has scaled back its support for PS3 and 360 versions of the game.

Okay, so we know when Rise of Iron is out, but when exactly can you download it? After all, many of you will probably be waiting to grab the new expansion as soon as possible so you can dive right in. Fortunately, we’ve got a list of handy times below allowing you to plan your Destiny gaming out a little more efficiently.

  • West Coast U.S. – 2:00am
  • East Coast U.S. – 5:00am
  • U.K. – 10:00am
  • Western Europe – 11:00am
  • Australia East Coast – 7:00pm

Destiny was originally released back in September 2014 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Excluding Rise of Iron, the space shooter has seen three major expansion packs: The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King. In addition, a title update back in April implemented various new content, including a fully revamped Prison of Elders. 

Looking beyond 2016, Activision has announced that Destiny 2 is already in development and will be released at some point next year.
