Bungie has provided details on the upcoming Destiny 2 Season of Opulence, which ushers in the next major slew of content for the shared-world shooter. Furthermore, the former Halo developer has revealed that the future will bring about a new era for Destiny 2, presumably meaning that fresh content will continue to roll out beyond 2019 and into next year.
That’s all speculation on our part, although there’s also the looming threat of Destiny 3, which is rumoured to be launching in 2020. Still, Bungie supported the original Destiny alongside the sequel, so there’s no doubt that’ll be the case if Destiny 3 turns up next year.
Destiny 2 Season Of Opulence Brings New Content To The Table
“Right now, our focus is on Opulence,” said the developer. “But after the Season has launched and Raid belts have been awarded, we’ll be looking deeper into the future, and sharing with you more about a new era for Bungie and Destiny 2.”
Destiny 2 Season of Opulence will bring about a wealth of new additions for the Engram-farming shooter, which is scheduled to roll out over the next few months.
Kicking off on June 4, the new season will launch with a new activity known as Menagerie, which appears to be a wave-based mode much like Escalation Protocol and Blind Well. In addition, the Crown of Sorrow raid will be rolled out six hours after Season of Opulence launches.
Next up on June 11 will be a new boss for Menagerie, along with a quest to obtain Ruth, an exotic rocket launcher that Destiny fans should be familiar with. Meanwhile, June 18 will see the return of Iron Banner, which comes with the chance to earn new armor via a questline. Menagerie will also receive another new boss with this content drop.
June 26 will see Bungie rolling out an Heroic mode for Menagerie, although at this stage we don’t really know anything about it or the new mode. Following this, the Exotic hand cannon, Lumina, will become available on July 2, while July 9 will see the Moments of Triumph and Tribute Hall unlocked.
