Denuvo is bringing its anti-cheat technology to PS5 game developers and publishers, having now joined the PlayStation 5 Tools and Middleware program.
Denuvo coming to PS5 is a pretty big deal. The company is at the forefront of games security, with some two billion unique game installs projected across all formats and over 1,000 titles secured by its technology. In supporting Sony’s new console, it allows developers to protect their games from hackers and cheaters.
The anti-cheat measures employ advanced technology to secure online gameplay, plus ‘securely reward offline progress.’ It also helps developers safe guard game logic or data, blocking cheaters from altering sensitive variables. Various PS5 launch games featured Denuvo’s anti-cheat tech at launch.
Reinhard Blaukovitsch, managing director of Denuvo, Irdeto, commented:
Cheating ruins video games for honest players. This can lead to lower engagement, game traffic and shrinking revenues for game publishers. We are really proud be able to help the world’s most talented developers to bring rich experiences for gamers on Playstation®5.
Denuvo has been doing the rounds for over a decade now, protecting AAA titles and collaborating with developers of all sizes. It offers cross-platform technologies on PC, consoles, iOS and Android, securing software against piracy safeguarding the integrity of a gaming experience.
