Hideo Kojima has posted a new Death Stranding update on Twitter, confirming he’s currently in the process of writing the game’s script.

By watching this mountain probably not going to visit in my life but I see it everyday and writing the script,” said Kojima san. “Writing the script (fixing the scriptment)” he said in another Tweet.

The game’s story is being kept tightly under wraps, although Kojima had previously made comparison to The Great Escape.

Death Stranding release date

Sony announced Death Stranding during its E3 2016 press conference, which was attended by Kojima himself. A concrete release date for the PlayStation 4-exclusive has yet to be confirmed, but it’s expected by 2019.

The upcoming action game will be powered by the Decima Engine, which is the same technology powering Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Kojima previously assured the game won’t be released on PS5 despite its lengthy development time, although hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a sequel. He’s also ruled out the prospect of multiple game endings.

Death Stranding will feature Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) in the lead role, and will also feature Guillermo Del Toro and Mads Mikkelson. Reedus and del Toro previously collaborated with Kojima on the cancelled Silent Hills project.

The game is Kojima’s first project since leaving Konami in December 2015 to establish his own independent studio, Kojima Productions.
