Days Gone PS4 news coming to E3 2017 in ‘a big way’

The voice actor behind the main protagonist in Days Gone has confirmed that the upcoming PS4-exclusive open-world action title will be appearing at E3 2017 in ‘a big way.’

Sam Witwer confirmed the news during a Twitch stream, although didn’t provide any further details on the game. Still, it’s a significant development, considering we’ve barely heard anything on Sony Bend’s latest project since its unveiling at E3 last year. Hopefully we’ll find out when the game will be arriving on store shelves at this year’s show.

Days Gone takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States that has been ravaged by a mysterious virus, transforming most of the human race into zombie-like beings known as Freakers. Players are put in control of former bounty hunter and biker aficionado, Deacon St. John, who lives his life on the road rather than setting up shop in one of the many camps that are dotted across the country.

While not a great deal of the game has been detailed so far, Sony Bend has confirmed that it will take place in an open-world setting ripe for exploration, with hordes of Freakers able to appear on-screen at anyone time, leading to some intense combat situations. Days Gone also features a dynamic day/night cycle which directly affects the way Freakers behave; during the day they are notably weaker, but increase in aggressiveness and speed when night falls. Players will able to craft various items and can tackle objectives in multiple ways, although much of the story and missions are being kept under wraps at present.

Days Gone is the first new IP to be created by Sony Bend since 1999’s Syphon Filter, and is the studio’s first project in five years after Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PS Vita. While a release date has yet to be confirmed by Sony, a retail listing has suggested the title may turn up on August 22, 2017.
