Elden Ring Nightreign FromSoftware Hidetaka Miyazaki Multiplayer Games News PS5 The Duskbloods

Hidetaka Miyazaki Says FromSoftware Hasn’t Shifted To Multiplayer In Wake Of The Duskbloods Reveal

Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of the Dark Souls franchise and a key figure at developer FromSoftware, has said the company isn’t pivoting to multiplayer games despite both Elden Ring: Nightreign and the newly-revealed The Duskbloods not adopting the traditional single-player experience we’re used to.

Speaking during an interview posted on Nintendo’s official website, Miyazaki-san, who also headed up development of the critically acclaimed Elden Ring, had the following to say:

As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn’t mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer-focused direction with titles going forward. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring was also announced, and we still intend to actively develop single-player focused games such as this that embrace our more traditional style.

The Duskbloods is a new PvPvE coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2 (at this point we don’t know if it will arrive on other formats), and is due out in 2026. Meanwhile, Elden Ring: Nightreign features co-op and is seen as a spinoff to Elden Ring, arriving in late May for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
