CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is launching on December 5, 2023 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. This probably won’t come as a surprise as GameStop listed the Ultimate Edition for that date earlier this month.
This re-release of the critically acclaimed sci-fi epic includes the base game, all updates released to date, and the Phantom Liberty expansion. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be available as a digital download and as a physical copy, although the latter will be rolled out in select markets only.
This new release is the perfect way to experience every story of the dark future; it also contains the free Update 2.0, which overhauled many of the game’s systems, introducing dynamic skill trees, high-octane vehicle combat, and enhanced enemy and police AI—as well as adding new weapons, vehicles, and clothes. The release is bolstered with a set of previously released digital goodies available as part of the “My Rewards” program, available to all who register.
Cyberpunk 2077 was originally released for the PS4, PC, and Xbox One in December 2020, although the console version was plagued by various bugs and performance issues. CDPR spent months after attempting to fix the issues, which, combined with the production cost of Phantom Liberty, cost the studio around $125 million.
The native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Cyberpunk 2077 arrived in February 2022, at which point the game was in a much better state. The title continued to perform well financially, and CDPR confirmed back in October that Cyberpunk 2077 had sold over 25 million copies worldwide.
