Sandfall Interactive‘s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has only just come out, but it’s already off to a very promising start with 500,000 copies sold.
The accomplishments don’t stop there, as the critically acclaimed RPG, which is the debut title from Sandfall, is already the highest-rated game on Meteoritic of the year so far. “A milestone for us, reached sooner than we’d ever imagined. Thank you all,” the company wrote in a post on X.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes place in a world inspired by Belle Époque France, and sees players embarking on a quest to destroy the Paintress, who is slowly erasing people by painting her monolith using a cursed number. She’s now at ’33,’ thus kicking off Expedition 33.
Players follow Gustave, Maelle, and fellow Expeditioners as they seek to destroy the Paintress’ cycle of death, following a trail left by previous expeditions and discovering their fate along the way. Along the way you’ll explore breathtaking landscapes, including the Island of Visages to the Forgotten Battlefield, recruiting special companions and forging alliances with creatures of legend throughout your quest.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is now available for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. You can read our full review here.
