Borderlands 4 Borderlands 4 Release Date Reveal News PS5 Take-Two

Borderlands 4 Release Date Is Coming ‘Soon,’ Says Take-Two Boss Strauss Zelnick

The CEO of Take-Two has revealed that a release date for the highly anticipated Borderlands 4 will be dropping soon, although wouldn’t be drawn into commenting further on the matter.

Borderlands 4 has shifted its release window from Take-Two’s fiscal year 2026, which runs April 1, 2026 — March 31, 2026, into a calendar 2025 launch. As such, in regards to how the sequel will now fit around Mafia: The Old Country, and Grand Theft Auto VI, Strauss offered, “you will have a date soon, and then all will become clear.”

Randy Pitchford of developer Gearbox Software recently stated that Borderlands 4 is by far the ‘most open and free’ entry in the franchise to date, but wouldn’t go so far as calling it a true open-world game. In addition, the game’s senior project producer has revealed that the sequel boasts the ‘deepest and most diverse skill trees‘ of the series so far.

Speaking during Take-Two’s earnings call overnight, Strauss also touched base on the release window for GTA VI, stating it is still on track for Fall 2025. Elsewhere, during an interview with GI.biz, the executive said that he feels the use of AI in game development can actually increase employment productivity, not reduce it.

Borderland 4 is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, with a release due at some point in 2025.
