Borderlands 4 Has The ‘Deepest And Most Diverse Skill Trees’ In The Franchise To Date

Anthony Nicholson, Senior Project Producer on Borderlands 4, has revealed during an interview with GamesRadar+ that the upcoming looter-shooter will feature the “deepest and most diverse skill trees” in the franchise to date.

“Borderlands 4 gives players the greatest freedom to shoot and loot that they’ve ever had in the franchise, which stays true to the core of what made Borderlands so innovative when it first landed on the scene.”

This all comes “on top of new traversal mechanics and a more seamless world experience,” with the end result meaning the “Borderlands 4 features the deepest and most diverse skill trees of any Borderlands title yet.” Nicholson added that Gearbox’s goal with this is to afford players “an unprecedented level of expression through their builds.”

Back in December, the game’s narrative director revealed that Borderlands 4 would cut back somewhat on the series’ trademark toilet humour, while Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford described the sequel as the ‘most open and free‘ instalment in the franchise yet, without actually being an open-world game.

Borderlands 4 is in production for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S with a release coming at some point this year.
