Speaking during an interview with Eurogamer, Bokeh Game Studios‘ creative leads Junya Okura, Keiichiro Toyama, and Kazunobu Sato have spilled some interesting details on the company’s debut project, which as previously reported will be a horror game.
Unsurprisingly, the trio are looking to attract fans of Siren and Silent Hill with the project, which features monsters designed by Miki Takahashi, who previously worked on Siren and Knack. However, it’s clear at this point that the game is still a long way off, being firmly in the prototype stage.
“There are a lot of areas in the prototype that we need to touch up,” revealed Toyama, who reckons there’s a “core experience” in the prototype that he hasn’t seen in other titles. However, when pushed to elaborate, he said you “can’t just put it down to describing it as a horror experience,” as there’s “action and speedy” elements to it, too.
“We’re working towards a theme which is both horrific yet aesthetically beautiful,” he added, which sounds pretty interesting considering his past work on Silent Hill.

Elsewhere, Sato-san, who served as producer on The Last Guardian – a game with a notoriously lengthy development cycle – touched briefly on how his experience with the title may be put to good use here.
Chiefly, he revealed that The Last Guardian’s issues won’t be repeated, pointing to the change in hardware (it went from being a PS3-exclusive to a PS4 release) as something that the team had no control over.
In terms of our new project, it’s good that we can judge all of that for ourselves. So please feel comfortable that our new game is not going to last for that long.
Bokeh Game Studio’s debut project is currently in development for undisclosed platforms.
