2013 has just about wrapped, and it’s that time of year again when the staff and community at PSU.com cast a reflective glance back at the last 12 months of gaming goodness. Yep, it’s our annual Game of the Year awards, where we scrutinize titles across a broad range of genres in order to determine the cream of the crop of titles from 2013. Whether it’s RPGs, action/adventure, racing, beat-’em-up or the coveted Game of the Year award itself, you have been voting in your dozens over the past week or so, and the results are now in.
So, let’s crack on with the awards. For our next article, we have a gander at Best RPG.
Ah, the RPG. The perfect gaming distraction and a sure-fire way to put your relationship with your Significant Other precariously in the balance. But enough woes, we love a good RPG here at PSU, and there’s been a fair few great releases to tuck into in 2013. Right off the bat, we had Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, and this was supplemented by various other heavy hitters throughout the year, including the localized edition of Tales of Xillia, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and the European release of Persona 4: Golden among others. All in all, RPG aficionados had a great 12 months.
And the winner is…
What’s this? PS Vita’s superb Persona 4 wins Best RPG for the second year in a row? Well, that’s the beauty of a staggered release schedule, chaps. While the critically-acclaimed title hit U.S. stores last year, it wasn’t until 2013 that PAL gamers were able to get their mitts on the JRPG — and that was enough for all our European readers to vote it as the Best RPG of 2013.
