While the Battlefield franchise seems to be struggling with its leadership, the live service train trudges along forward, and we now know the big things coming in Battlefield 2042’s upcoming Season 7: Turning Point, which arrives on March 19, 2024.
Chief among everything coming in this new season will be the addition of not one, but two new maps. First off is Haven, a brand new map that brings the fighting into El Alicanto, a town in the hot Atacama desert.
It’s urban warfare, as you’ll be fighting door-to-door, in town squares and on top of buildings – though be wary of trying to find a rooftop to hide out on. That roof could easily crumble underneath your feet.
Inspiration for Haven came from what DICE calls some of the series most beloved maps, like Arica Harbor, Strike At Karkand and Amiens, so Battlefield veterans should feel right at home in this urban battleground.
The other map isn’t a brand new map, but instead the return of the Stadium that was once apart of the map Hourglass. Now, the Stadium returns as its own map, that’ll be Infantry only, and close-quarters combat focused.
Regarding weapons, Season 7 will add the AK-5C assault rifle, the SCZ-3 sub-machine gun, The DFR Strife and the Predator SRAW, the perfect gadget to take out vehicles both in the air and on the ground.
Speaking of vehicles, a new vehicle that’ll be available later in the season is the XFAD-4 Drauger, a top-of-the-line aerial bomber, equipped with EMP bombs and radar-guided missiles to make you a true terror from above.
As far as what the Battlefield team has been focusing on fixing, Season 7 will add a host of improvements to weapon recoil and animations, across all platforms, on top of what will surely be a long list of bug fixes.
Battlefield 2042 will also have another Free Access period, where from March 21-24, 2024 anyone who does not own Battlefield 2042 can download the game and have full access to it for free.
If you decide you don’t want the fun to end on the 24th, then you’ll be able to purchase Battlefield 2042 at a discounted rate, and all your progress from the free period will transfer into your full purchased game.
