One of the biggest and best additions that Assassin’s Creed Origins brings to Ubisoft’s long-running historically focused stab-fest is Senu, a massive bird and companion to the protagonist Bayek that brings literal meaning to the term ‘Eagle Vision’. A highly useful tool in his own right, Senu can be employed in a number of different ways to support and otherwise inform Bayek while he goes about the place doing his moody assassin business. As such, we’ve compiled this little helper to help wannabe assassins get the most from the majestic bird.
Scouting enemy structures and locations
Being able to soar through the sky means that Senu possesses a god-like perspective on the world, and Bayek can use this vantage point greatly to his advantage when attempting to infiltrate enemy structures and locations. You see, not only can Senu identify enemies, their rank and their difficulty, he can also pinpoint their activities too; a sleeping guard spied at the side entrance will make infiltration from that direction much easier than attempting to breach a location where the guards are alert and patrolling. In short, Senu feels like the ancient equivalent of a reconnaissance drone, only with more feathers.
Spying animals to hunt
Tapping into Senu’s predatory instincts (he is a whacking great big bird of prey after all), Bayek’s trusty avian friend is also really adept at spotting and tracking animals for our assassin to hunt so that he might reap all those lovely materials to help him upgrade and improve his equipment. Much like his ability to pinpoint Bayek’s human foes, Senu can also tell whether an animal is resting, eating, running or even chasing its prey, allowing the player to permanently lock-in their quarry and make tracking them down a cinch. Senu’s a top bird and no mistake.
Uncovering rare materials
In addition to clueing in Bayek as to the positions of enemies and killable prey, Senu can also be used to triangulate the positions of wagons and ships that might be carrying rare materials, such as silver or gold, as well. When taken in tandem with his previously discussed talents, it soon proves difficult to deny that Senu plays nothing less than an essential part in the improvement and progression of Bayek’s gear and equipment.
Avoiding high level enemies
Occasionally in Assassin’s Creed Origins, you’ll be forced to traverse through areas that are much higher level than your character; areas where, even if the enemies so much as look at you sideways you’re basically dead. In previous games, attempting to get through such areas unscathed would be like playing hopscotch in a minefield, in Origins however, Senu can easily spot these overwhelmingly powerful enemies (notable by the big red skull marker that bobs above their heads), allowing Bayek to a chart a path away from them and into the welcoming embrace of safety.
Don’t forget to synchronize
As powerful as Senu is, his vision can only pick out so many key areas and points of interest in the environment. To improve his senses and the range of important stuff that he can pick up on, Bayek must synchronize with as many towers as possible within the area that he intends to explore because only then will Senu be able to operate at his fullest efficacy.
