Assassin's Creed Odyssey Skills To Get First

In our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey skills to get first guide, we make it clear the skills you should get first. You can get more help in our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey guide, but let’s take a look at some of the skills that will help you succeed.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Skills To Get First

There are three skill trees in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – Warrior, Hunter and Assassin. You can gain ability points to put into these trees when you level up, and also when you complete a tomb.

Once you have these ability points, you can then decide which of the three trees to invest them into. While each tree ascribes to a different playstyle, there are some skills that you simply cannot do with out.

Each skill has three different levels of potency.

The Assassin’s Odyssey Skills to get first from each tree are as follows:

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Warrior Skills To Get First

Second Wind – This skill is absolutely essential and the one you should choose above all others when starting the game. Second Wind is basically a healing ability that restores 25%/35%/45% of your health depending on how deeply you have the skill leveled. It is quite literally a life-saver.

Spartan Kick – This is highly useful for rendering enemies unconscious so that they might be easily recruited. At later levels the Spartan Kick creates a shock wave that knocks other enemies back too.

Weapon Master – Pretty much essential, this skill increases your warrior damage with later levels magnifying the effect.

The Warrior skill tree boasts some of the most useful abilities in the whole game.

Armor Master – Also essential, this skill increases your armor and defense resulting in less damage being taken. Later levels of this skill increase the damage mitigation that is provided.

Overpower Attack – A great way to deal high amounts of damage quickly. This skill bombards the enemy with a flurry of highly damaging strikes. Overpower Attack uses three adrenaline bars, while later levels of the skill increase the damage dished out to enemies.

Ring of Chaos – An AoE (Area of Effect) attack, Ring of Chaos fires off a massive shockwave that stuns enemies and does warrior damage. The higher the level of this skill, the larger the radius of the attack and the more warrior damage is done.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Hunter Skills To Get First

SIxth Sense – If spotted by an enemy, this skill provides a five second slow-motion window for you to get some ranged attacks off. This provides the player with ample time to both deal damage and plan their next move.

Of all the skill trees that you can put ability points into, the Hunter tree is the least essential.

Arrow Master – If you want to recruit someone without killing them your offensive options are limited. However, with the Arrow Master skill you can paralyze foes at a distance that makes recruiting them into your crew super easy.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Assassin Skills To Get First

Revelation – This summons Athena’s Sight and allows players to see treasure chests, items and other points of interest in the environment. Upgrading this skill widens the range and shows everything of note for much longer. This skill is essential for finding secret treasures and other hidden loot in the game.

Venomous Attacks – Poison is a damage over time attack type that is very useful. When in combat with very strong enemies you’ll want to poison them early to achieve the maximum amount of damage. Venomous Attacks allows you to do this by poisoning your weapon. Later levels of the skill increase both the potency and duration of the poison effect.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Skills To Get First 03
There are some really useful skills in the Assassin skill tree that aid both damage dealing and exploration.

Shadow Assassin – Sometimes the best fights in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey are the ones you don’t take part in. To this end, assassination is the best way to end a fight before it even begins. This can be tricky to achieve with stronger enemies however. To help make this easier, putting points into the Shadow Assassin skill causes the power of your stealth assassination and knock out attacks to increase exponentially.

Critical Assassination – This stacks with the Shadow Assassin skill. Critical Assassin provides a whopping 150% additional assassin damage whenever you succeed in an assassination attempt when not in conflict. The amount of damage that this skill dishes out increases hugely with each rank.
