New Assassin’s Creed Game Reportedly Has Aztec Setting, But Top Insider Has Already Dismissed The Claims

Jason Schreier has shot down rumors that the next Assassin’s Creed game will be set in the Aztec empire, after reports from fellow insider Jeremy Penter on Twitter claimed the game would be heading to this location next.

Despite having a decent track record with Ubisoft-related games, the tipster, known by the handle ACG on Twitter, has had his latest leak shot down by Schreier in a post on ResetEra.

Would be some wacky time travel shenanigans if Basim went to the Aztec Empire. I’ve also heard about the two main games in development as part of AC Infinity, and neither of them are Aztec. Maybe there’s some super secret spinoff in production somewhere, but I haven’t heard of it!

Basim is the lead role in the new Assassin’s Creed game that is reportedly coming before Assassin’s Creed Infinity, and played a major role in 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Indeed, Schreier makes a good point; why would his game be set in the Aztec empire given the time period he’s involved in?

All the same, Ubisoft has never acknowledged this new Assassin’s Creed game, so treat everything with speculation for the time being.

The publisher is set to lift the lid on the future of Assassin’s Creed in September, so hopefully we’ll find out more then.
