Kazuma Kaneko, Shin Megami Tensei Series Character Designer, Departs ATLUS For COLOPL

Kazuma Kaneko has officially departed ATLUS after 35 years with the legendary JRPG developer and joined up with COLOPL, where he will work on new IP. Fans will probably know Kaneko-san for his work as a character designer for the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.

The departure of Kaneko was revealed in an interview where it is revealed that the new project is an original title that features a worldview masterminded by Kaneko himself, and that the “game experience” will implement the latest technology.

In addition to his extensive work on the Megami Tensei series, Kaneko, who is often referred to as a ‘Demon Artist,’ also worked in a freelance capacity for the likes of Capcom and Konami, having worked on the likes of Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner.

His most recent works include Shin Megami Tensei V, Soul Hackers 2, and Persona 3 Reload, the latter being a modern overhaul of the classic PS2 title, where Kaneko worked on the game’s demon designs.
