PlayStation Plus October 2016: free games predictions and rumors

Get your PS Plus rumors right here! We’re back again to ‘accurately’ predict the games that may appear in the PlayStation Plus October games list.

Okay, hands-up! We didn’t get any of our predictions right for the PlayStation Plus September 2016 games, but that isn’t going to hold us back.

PS4 Slim has been released and PS4 Pro is incoming, which makes this the perfect time for Sony to make a statement with its PlayStation Plus offerings, and maybe get on board some new subscribers.

Sony officially announces the PlayStation Store update for PS Plus subscribers at the beginning of each month, so stay tuned to the PlayStation blog for further details on the PlayStation Plus free games, but for now check out our PlayStation Plus rumors.

PlayStation Plus October free games?

Killzone: Shadow Fall
We’ve already enjoyed Killzone: Mercenary on Vita, but it’s time for Sony to pull out the big guns! We’re predicting the triple-A title in October to be Killzone Shadow Fall, Guerilla Games’ sci-fi themed first-person shooter. It was released way back at the launch of PlayStation 4 in 2013, and what better way for Sony to usher in its PlayStation Plus subscription price hike with a decent game published by them.

Nights of the Azure
One of the hottest rumors is that Nights of Azure will be heading to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection. The action role-playing game from Koei Tecmo was made available for free in Japan this month, and was initially released in 2015 for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita in that region. It’s North American and European launch was much later, however, in April this year. Will the publisher put it up on the PlayStation Store for free this month? We’ll have wait to see when the PlayStation Plus October games are announced.

Knack
Okay, so Knack has become the most talked about PlayStation Plus game never to be made available for free, but it could happen! There were rumors earlier this year that development on Knack 2 were in progress, and have been since May 2015. The platformer didn’t receive rave reviews, yet some people still seem to love it. Like Killzone ShadowFall. this is another game that might keep a few of the regular PlayStation Plus moaners quiet for a few weeks.

Bound by Flame
Focus Home Interactive’s fantasy RPG was released back in 2014 and offers a weighty 40+ hour campaign for PS3 and PS4 owners. Set against the backdrop of a fictional war between Elves and Red Scribes it offers questing, a crafting system, and the ability to develop relationships with NPCs. Reviews weren’t great, so don’t get too excited if this one drops on PS Plus, though we kind of liked it.

Oddworld Munch’s Oddysee HD
Our pick for the PS Vita exclusive Plus game is going to be Oddworld. We’ve already had Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Oddworld Abe’s Exodus, Oddworld Strangers Wrath and the HD version and OddWorld New ’N Tasty for free, but we haven’t had Oddworld Munch’s Oddysee HD! This was a remastered version of the original game that followed Munch and his side-kick Abe in a familiar platforming adventure to save the world!

We’re not making a sixth prediction! What we’ve not included this month is a new indie game on our PlayStation Plus October 2016 list. That’s because we promised not to as it apparently hurts game sales for smaller developers, but rest assured we’ll be getting at least one free indie game!
